Scope and report

Scope and report: how the price is set

Every scope is one camera run, a written report with stills, and a video link. The price follows how we get into the pipe.

  • Cleanout at the house

A cleanout we can reach without moving anything heavy. Camera run to the street or the tank.

    • Camera run from the cleanout to the street or the tank
    • Written report with stills and a video link
    • Locate and mark a low spot, if you want it
    • Re-scope after a repair
  • No cleanout

We pull one toilet, run the camera through the closet bend, and reset the toilet with a new wax ring.

How scope pricing works

Six questions, answered before you book.

  • What decides the price

How we get into the pipe: a cleanout, or a toilet to pull. How much pipe there is to run: a second line or a long run takes longer. Whether you want the problem located, with a mark and a depth, as well as reported.

  • What the estimate includes, and what it doesn't

The price covers the visit, the camera run, the written report with stills and the video link. It doesn't cover cleaning, a repair, digging, or a permit. Those get their own written price, after the report.

  • What happens at the visit

One technician finds the access, runs the camera to the street or the tank, and records the run. The visit fee is the scope price; it isn't credited toward a repair, because we don't sell repairs on a buyer's scope.

  • After hours

We scope Monday to Friday and on Saturday morning. A Saturday scope costs the same as a weekday one. We don't take night calls: for a backup tonight, call a plumber with a night line.

  • When you get the number

Before the van leaves. We text the written price once we have the address and how we'll get in, and the invoice matches it. If the camera finds more to look at on the day, we ask before we add anything.

  • How and when you pay

At the visit, by card, or by invoice for an inspector or agent who booked for a client. The price in the text is the price due.
